Week 4: Swimming in the sea of knowledge

Hi all,
A busy week with lots of traveling and work made me really tired. Some contracts need to be finalized as soon as the end of the coming week. Yet, I do feel relaxed and happy when reading our class posts to know how hard you work and how close we are together regardless of where you are from. I really admire my friends with their wonderful job of week 4. I think I am quite behind and I will try best to catch up.

Well, back to the two big issues of skill-building webs and technology-enhanced lesson plans, I believe that all members in the class have enjoyed much the party of teaching and learning resources.

The hardest part of the week is designing a technology-enhanced lesson plan. To meet the objectives of the lesson and to match with the existing syllabus, it is not an easy task to make a satisfactory lesson plan.

  2. Hello The,
I like the way you expressed this week's feelings: "Swimming in the sea of knowledge". And I want to tell you a secret I can't even swim in a sea of water. I never learnt to when I was a child and after attending a swimming school for adults I somehow learnt to swim, but on one occasion I just had some kind of panic when doing backstroke and after that I've never tried again.

I hope the same will not happen with all this knowledge we aquire on this course. And I'm secretly planning of going once again to have swimming lessons...

    1. Dear Sinnika,

      Thank you for your sharing.
It's also my secret: I cannot swim though I live by the sea haaaa.

Hope that we have a lot to bring into practice and we finally find an oasis with great living conditions to live on after the course. I can see Robert waving his hands standing on the Oasis waiting for us giving good instructions.

      So, just move on

  3. Hello The,
I do share your feelings..I too am so busy with a lot of other projects, apart from my college duty.I too am a bit late in submitting my assignments. However I did enjoy doing all the technology enhanced works. Preparing the technology enhanced lesson plan was the difficult task for me as well. So we do share our difficulties as well as our liking.. So we will move on as a group isn't it? Lets keep our strength intact to swim in this sea of knowledge..

    Regards,
    Nizara

  4. Hello The,

I agree with Nizara. We will go on swimming as a group. Unlike most of you, I am swimming through quiet waters right now, since I am between terms. I was even on holiday last week. I am back to work now, but there are no classes.

However, once the new term starts, it is going to be the busiest time of the year for me. New courses, new students to meet and we will be in the second part of the course... I dare not think about that.

I found the lesson plan difficult too. There was a moment of panic when I thought I wouldn't be able to think of anything to make a plan around.

I think it is important that we share these feelings. I believe that is the main idea behind these blogs.

    1. Thank you Natasa,

Yes we will. We will be a group even after the course. I am thinking about inviting you and some others to Vietnam to teach in our school when you take a long holiday there. Just for an intensive course, if possible, on technology-enhanced teaching to my teachers and students. Just take it as a proposal, and I will work with my Board of Directors on the details.

  6. Hi The!
High spirits are able to jump over any fence no matter how high it is!People like you and all those teachers who must undergo long working hours to prepare lessons, assess students, coach them and attend staff meetings, and then have the strength to take up extra courses and meet the deadlines no matter how tight the schedule is, are always ready to overcome any difficulty that may come across. I don't think you can say that you are "behind" anybody... it only means you started the issue later!
Most of the resources we are seeing nowadays are easy to learn and really rewarding both for the teacher and for the students. The only thing you need for jumping aboard is the will to constant will to learn in order to improve your everyday performance. Keep the spirit and you will catch up in no time, my colleague!
    Best regards

    1. Dear Ricard,

I am glad to see your comment today after a week burying myself in the piled contracts to be finalized.

Yes, at times, I thought about quitting the course. However, whenever arriving home to see you guys doing greats jobs, I was inspired and sat down for reading and learning more.

      Thank you,
